A’ja Wilson, the standout star of the Las Vegas Aces, has carved out an extraordinary career on the court. Now, fans will get a rare look at life off the hardwood. On July 24, during the All-Star weekend that marks 30 years of the WNBA, ESPN announced the premiere of Life In The W, a new original docuseries following Wilson along with Napheesa Collier of the Minnesota Lynx and DeWanna Bonner of the Phoenix Mercury as they navigate the demanding WNBA season.
Wilson described the project as a chance to reveal what fans don’t always see: “Many people only glimpse what we do on the court, but this is an opportunity to show everything that comes with it—the work, the sacrifice, the joy, and the sisterhood. I’m incredibly proud to be part of this series and to give viewers a window into who we are beyond basketball.”
Life In The W is produced by UNINTERRUPTED, LeBron James’ sports-focused production company, and aims to illuminate the pressures and triumphs faced by three of the league’s top talents, not only during the season but also amid a moment when women’s sports are riding a wave of rising popularity. This surge is visible in both attendance and viewership as the WNBA continues to expand its reach and influence.
In collaboration with UNINTERRUPTED, Life In The W is also produced by Cookie Jar and A Dream Studios, the in-house content and production arms of DICK’S Sporting Goods. Mark Rooks, the vice president of Creative, Sponsorship & Entertainment at DICK’S, and one of the executive producers of Life In The W alongside James, shared his perspective on the project’s purpose. He emphasized that authentic sports storytelling centers on the human spirit behind every athlete.
“True sports storytelling is about the human spirit behind the athlete,” Rooks said. “Cookie Jar & A Dream Studios are dedicated to elevating these voices, and partnering with ESPN and UNINTERRUPTED on Life In The W gives us a powerful platform to honor the women shaping the future of sports. DICK’S Sporting Goods remains committed to investing in the WNBA and in the athletes who elevate the game daily. By highlighting the unique journeys of A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and DeWanna Bonner, this series captures the unwavering commitment and excellence that define not only these three leaders but the entire community driving the game forward.”
The first two episodes of Life In The W will debut on ESPN2, with the remaining installments scheduled to air throughout the weekend. Fans who subscribe to ESPN Select on the ESPN app will have access to all six episodes, ensuring viewers can follow the series from start to finish. The show’s six-part arc promises an intimate, revealing look at life inside the league, offering in-depth pre-season and in-season moments, personal narratives, and candid interviews that illuminate what it takes to succeed at the highest level of women’s basketball.
Life In The W seeks to deliver a compelling blend of behind-the-scenes access, personal stories, and on-court drama, presenting Wilson, Collier, and Bonner not only as elite athletes but as teammates, mentors, and community figures. The series aims to expand audiences for the WNBA by providing an authentic, human-centered portrayal of athletes who are helping to propel women’s sports to unprecedented heights. Through these intimate portraits, viewers will gain insight into the dedication, resilience, and camaraderie that define the modern era of professional women’s basketball.
