That event ended with Pereira TKO’d by Ciryl Gane, who took the interim heavyweight championship. With Tom Aspinall too injured to compete, Gane will now become the undisputed title holder.Pereira pushed hard for an immediate rematch, arguing that Gane cheated by throwing multiple punches to the back of his head during the final moments of their fight. But that argument wasn’t good enough to earn a second fight. But leading up to that message he shared video landing back in the United States and crossing the Whitestone Bridge on his way home to Connecticut. Perhaps to begin seriously training for his next fight?Pereira has made it clear he intends to stay at heavyweight and accomplish his goal of becoming champion there. Who will he fight next to take that next step? There’s certainly good options, like No. 2 ranked Sergei Pavlovich or No. 4 ranked Alexander Volkov. You could argue that both men had a better case for fighting Ciryl Gane next for the heavyweight belt instead of Hokit.
