​ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Los Angeles Angels activated center fielder Mike Trout from the injured list on Wednesday, just in time for the All-Star Game to be hosted in his cherished Philadelphia. Trout had been sidelined for 17 games due to a strained right hamstring that he suffered while running the bases on June 17. Angels manager Kurt Suzuki planned to assess Trout’s readiness by game time, noting that he might initially ease him back into action. “We’re obviously going to see how he feels. Maybe at the start I’ll pull him back a bit if necessary. I’m not sure yet how I’ll manage it, but he’s ready to go,” Suzuki said prior to the contest against the Texas Rangers.
Trout, who grew up about 40 miles from Philadelphia in Millville, New Jersey, was elected by the fans as a starter for the American League at next week’s All-Star Game at Citizens Bank Park. The 12-time All-Star has not participated in the showcase since 2019 due to injuries that followed his selections from 2021 through 2023. To open a roster spot, the Angels designated infielder Donovan Walton for assignment.
