LAS VEGAS – It’s Groundhog Day in combat sports.Dana White says he’s promoting Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua. Eddie Hearn says he is not. Water is wet.Following Dana White’s Contender Series 95 on Tuesday, White was asked about comments made by Hearn on Tuesday on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” in which Hearn lightly floated the idea of he and White meeting to hash out their disagreements.”What’s the confusion?” White said. “Oh, I thought there was a meeting? It wasn’t because it’s weird if Dana White doesn’t show up to Dana White’s Contender Series on a Tuesday. I haven’t missed one in 10 years no matter what and then I had the press conference and the fight in Utah. The day that we held it, the reason that day it was held was because that was the day Turki had. Turki wanted to be at the press conference and that was why. There is absolutely zero confusion. Everything that I have said since however long ago I said it is true. Now, he’s open to meeting with me about what? What should we possibly meet about.”White and Hearn have sparred back-and-forth verbally over the past couple months, jousting over who actually is and isn’t promoting the Dec. 11 event boxing event on Netflix. White also recently added that he is promoting the event. Hearn, however, says that’s a contractual violation – and that it’s TKO’s attitude more than anything that is preventing him from greenlighting their participation.”Sounds like he’s got an incredible lawsuit,” White said sarcastically. “Are you f*cking kidding me right now? Did he talk about AJ and Fury. OK, that’s all that matters. Who gives a sh*t? Have I been wrong in anything that I’ve said? Not yet. Nothing. I am producing the fight. I am promoting the fight. I will be there at the fight and then I’m flying right back to Vegas for the UFC fight. All of my producers and guys that run production will be flying with me. We already had the meeting. The meeting was yesterday. “This is so f*cking silly now, and the fact that you guys are even asking me these questions. If he’s on Ariel Helwani for however long he’s on, he’s talking about me? Why? Why am I the main topic? AJ and Fury are fighting. Those guys are going to make a f*ck ton of money. The fight has finally happened. Everything that I have said about my involvement in the fight has been absolutely true. Anybody want to debate that? Am I wrong?”There are 66 days until fight night and it’ll become increasingly interesting to see if a mutually agreeable outcome surfaces before then. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Animated Dana White responds to Eddie Hearn again: ‘Sounds like he’s got an incredible lawsuit’
