Crawley Town have unveiled Jude Arthurs as their latest signing, with the 24-year-old midfielder stating that his move to the Reds is driven by a clear goal: to secure promotion back to League One. “One million per cent,” Arthurs declared, underscoring his confidence in the club’s ambitions. The former Bromley captain brings a wealth of experience, having clocked more than 250 appearances for the Ravens and playing a pivotal role in their rise from the National League to the brink of League Two glory.
Arthurs left Bromley when his contract expired, opting to return to League Two with Crawley Town. Speaking to BBC Radio Sussex, he explained why the move made sense: “I wouldn’t have come here if I didn’t think we have a chance of going up. One million per cent.” He added, “Without a doubt, we’re going to be at the top of the table, challenging with all the big teams.” The midfielder revealed that his decision was influenced by conversations with several people, but it was Crawley’s manager, Colin Kazeem-Richards, who sold him on the project and its ambitions. “When I spoke to the gaffer here, he laid out the club’s forward-looking plan, and it matched where I wanted to go,” Arthurs said. He also highlighted Crawley’s history, noting that the club has previously spent time in League One, which makes the leap seem achievable. “I think we’re definitely going to make that happen this year,” he affirmed.
Arthurs spent six years at Bromley, where he captained the side on multiple occasions, including during their League Two title triumph in May. He acknowledged that it was time for a change and that Crawley’s offer—a two-year deal with an option for a further 12 months—played a crucial role in his decision. “It was hard leaving, but ultimately, I’m ready for a new challenge and a fresh start,” he said. He added that signing one-year deals in recent seasons with Bromley had made this longer-term arrangement particularly appealing: “The last two seasons I signed one-year deals with Bromley, so it’s nice to find a new home here for the next few years and hopefully kick on with the team.”
Arthurs has been a fan favourite at Bromley, where his six seasons were marked by memorable, history-making campaigns. Many Crawley supporters have already hailed Arthurs as one of the club’s best signings in years, a compliment he welcomed. “It’s nice to receive that kind of praise,” he said. “Hopefully I can repay it on the pitch and show the fans what I’m all about.” He described himself as an all-action midfielder who thrives on getting involved in every aspect of the game. “I like to build the play, score goals, provide assists, and give 100% for the team and the club,” Arthurs stated.
The move also connects Arthurs with an old acquaintance at Crawley. He is friends with Danilo Orsi, the 2023-2024 play-off final hero, who returned to Crawley under former boss Scott Lindsey in January 2026. Arthurs teased the potential for a fruitful collaboration with Orsi, jokingly likening him to Bromley’s prolific striker Michael Cheek in terms of legendary status. “If Dan can get on the pitch again, I’m sure he’ll be firing, and I can rack up a few assists off him as well,” Arthurs said with a smile.
Arthurs’ arrival adds depth and experience to Crawley Town’s midfield, reinforcing the club’s stated intent to challenge for promotion from League Two. With a two-year contract and the option of a third year, the signing signals Crawley’s ambition to build a squad capable of contending with the division’s bigger clubs and pushing towards a return to League One. The midfielder’s self-belief, coupled with his proven track record of success at Bromley, has raised expectations among supporters that Arthurs could be a driving force behind Crawley’s pursuit of promotion in the upcoming campaign.
