AS Roma ready bid for Strasbourg’s Diego Moreira

AS Roma are preparing a bid for Diego Moreira, a versatile winger from RC Strasbourg Alsace, who is 21 years old, according to a report by Gianluca Di Marzio. Strasbourg appears to be entering a summer of transition, with the club yet to appoint a new manager after Gary O’Neil’s departure and with several key players anticipated to leave.
Emanuel Emegha has already moved to Chelsea, and another Blues target, Valentin Barco, has signaled his intention to depart, though his move to Stamford Bridge has not yet been formalised. Moreira, who has been a crucial figure for Strasbourg over the last two seasons, is also expected to be on the move. Earlier in the window, Borussia Dortmund had been linked with the Belgian talent, but they are not the only club keeping an eye on him. Moreira is a flexible player who can operate as a full-back, wing-back, or on either flank as a winger.
Di Marzio reports that Roma are now moving to submit a €30 million bid for Moreira, and the offer would include a 10% sell-on clause. The bid signals Roma’s interest in adding a young, adaptable winger with experience in both wide offensive roles and backline support. The Belgian international’s ability to contribute across multiple positions makes him an appealing option for a squad looking to strengthen depth and flexibility on the flanks.
Strasbourg’s summer upheaval adds calendar-year significance to the potential sale, as the club navigates life without a manager and with a potential wave of exits that could reshape their attacking options for the upcoming season. Moreira’s development over the past two seasons, combined with his age and versatility, positions him as a high-potential target for Roma, who are known for valuing players capable of covering multiple roles across the wide areas.
If the €30m bid is accepted, the inclusion of a 10% sell-on clause would provide Strasbourg with future financial upside should Moreira move on to another club for a higher fee in the future. Roma’s interest aligns with a broader pattern of pursuing promising young wingers who can contribute immediately while offering room for growth and resale value.
As discussions progress, it remains to be seen whether Strasbourg will entertain the proposed transfer or seek a higher fee, given the player’s potential and the interest from other European clubs. Moreira’s future will likely hinge on how Strasbourg’s managerial situation evolves, how aggressively Roma push their offer, and how other suitors position themselves in the market for a player with his versatility and potential.
