Aston Villa making charge for Bayern Munich’s João Palhinha

According to a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Aston Villa has swept into the mix to become a contender for Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha:João Palhinha is a possibility for Aston Villa. He’s a name being discussed by the management and coach Unai Emery, and is appreciated by the Premier League side. As of now, there are still no negotiations with Bayern. That is interesting to say the least, but with no talks between the clubs yet, it is all just in the preliminary stage…right? Maybe not per Jacob Tanswell of The Athletic, who is reporting that there have been communications between the two clubs:Aston Villa are set to finalise a move for Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes and are also in talks to sign Joao Palhinha on loan from Bayern Munich. The deal for Gomes is to be finalised for a fee of around £35million, while Palhinha spent last season at Tottenham Hotspur and is available to leave Bayern this summer.Sources with knowledge of the deal, speaking on the condition of anonymity to protect relationships, said Gomes is set to undergo a medical on Friday ahead of a proposed transfer. If true, this could escalate quickly. Bayern Munich wants to sell Palhinha outright, but might not be opposed to a loan with Aston Villa if the English club absorbs Palhinha’s full salary (€10 million salary + €2 million bonus per Capology).Sign up for a user account and get:AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNew, improved notifications system!Fewer adsCreate community postsComment on articles, community postsRec comments, community posts
