Barcelona to soon announce deal to sign Belgian top talent – Romano

After a brief lull, Barcelona are once again making moves in the transfer market. In recent days, all attention has centered on the anticipated signing of Karim Adeyemi, who is poised to join the club on a €22 million deal from Borussia Dortmund. However, Barcelona are also closing in on another talented signing, Jesse Bisiwu, with the club having reportedly reached a full agreement to secure the Belgian youngster. Deco is confident about Bisiwu’s potential, and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has provided a fresh update on the pursuit of the Club Brugge youth product.
Romano indicates that Barcelona are finalizing the agreement to sign Bisiwu, with an announcement possible in the coming hours or days. The Catalans are expected to complete a deal worth €10 million for the explosive winger, while Club Brugge will receive a 30% sell-on clause. Although most of the major terms are already settled, Barcelona are waiting to iron out a few final details before they can publicly confirm the deal.
This pursuit comes as Barcelona are also close to securing Adeyemi, another highly dynamic winger. Romano notes that the Adeyemi deal could be closed within the week, adding to Barcelona’s burgeoning transfer activity. Yet, according to Romano, Bisiwu is viewed by the club as a long-term investment rather than a short-term first-team option. He is unlikely to jump straight into Hansi Flick’s senior squad next season, reinforcing the idea that this signing will be about development and potential rather than immediate impact.
Earlier reports suggested Barcelona aimed to emulate a Roony Bardghji-type trajectory with Bisiwu. Under that plan, the teenager would first integrate with the Barcelona reserve team, where he would have to prove himself and contend with a high level of competition from other talented La Masia prospects. The reserve side would serve as his proving ground, allowing him to adapt to the club’s playing style and culture while he continues to develop physically and technically.
If Bisiwu makes a strong impression with the reserves, he could eventually become an option for the first team in the future. For now, however, the winger’s path is clear: focus on excelling with Barcelona’s youth setup, demonstrate his potential, and earn his place through consistent performances in training and on the pitch. The plan emphasizes a measured development curve, giving Bisiwu time to mature and grow within Barcelona’s renowned academy system before any consideration of first-team minutes.
In summary, Barcelona are actively expanding their talent pool, pursuing both Adeyemi and Bisiwu as part of a strategic long-term rebuild. While the Adeyemi move appears nearer to completion and could bolster the first-team options in the near term, Bisiwu represents a calculated, future-facing investment. The Belgian prospect is set to begin his journey with Barcelona’s youth sides, where he will be tasked with proving his abilities and climbing the ranks. If he impresses, the pathway to the first team will emerge gradually, aligning with the club’s philosophy of developing homegrown and academy-proven talents who can eventually contribute at the highest level. The ongoing negotiations underscore Barcelona’s emphasis on diversification of talent and a patient, development-focused approach to strengthening the squad in the coming seasons.
