Forward Sophie Proost has completed her transfer to Bayern Munich from FC Twente, the club has announced. The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season in the Eredivisie last year, appearing in 18 matches for Twente across the Eredivisie and the UWCL, and contributing three goals and five assists.
In comments captured by FCBayern.com, both the player and club officials spoke about the move. Proost said: “I’m very happy I’ve signed for FC Bayern. It’s a special honour that a club of this stature has placed its trust in me and gives me this chance. It was an incredible moment when I heard about FC Bayern’s interest. Everything felt right from the start, so I knew immediately I wanted to come here. As a player, I see myself as very technically skilled, explosive and fast: I always want to attack, score goals and work hard for the team, support my teammates and improve every day. I’ll play with international top players here, I can learn an incredible lot from them. Together with the team, I want to keep improving and win as many titles as possible in the next few years.”
Bianca Rech, Bayern Frauen sporting director, added: “We’re delighted Sophie Proost has decided to join FC Bayern. She’s a very interesting young player who poses a huge goal threat on the wings. We’re absolutely convinced of her potential and certain she’ll take the next step in her development here in the upcoming years. She has impressively demonstrated her skills in the Eredivisie and UEFA Women’s Champions League. Sophie brings great quality to the attack, she’s versatile and fits perfectly with our style of play. We’re looking forward to the upcoming years with her in Munich.”
Proost’s contract runs until 2029. She will wear the number 23 shirt for the FC Bayern Frauen.
