​Jul. 13—NEW LONDON — The Bemidji American Legion softball team didn’t get off to the best start at a tournament in New London, but finished the weekend winning its last four games.The Titans overcame two early losses to finish the weekend 4-2. After falling to Dassel-Cokato 3-2 and Annandale 5-3, Post 14 roped off wins of 13-4 over Minneapolis, 7-4 over BOLD, 3-1 over Maple Lake-Willow River and 18-9 over Springfield.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAgainst Minneapolis, Jessa Anderson, Olivia Birt, Jill Pulkrabek and Summer Weinzelt each had multi-hit games. Birt went 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs.Bemidji had just four hits in its win over BOLD. McKenzie Bullock had one of them in a 1-for-2 day. She also had one of her best starts in the circle, throwing all five innings and striking out 11 batters. She allowed one earned run on five hits. Bullock started all six games for the Titans over the weekend.Against Maple Lake-Willow River, Bullock and Britton Nord’s singles were Post 14’s only hits. Bemidji walked eight times in the 3-1 win. Bullock struck out seven batters and allowed one unearned run on three hits.The Titans’ tournament finale was more of a formality than anything else. They scored 14 runs in the first inning in an 18-9 win over Springfield.
