​Another MHSAA high school football season is about to to begin in Greater Lansing.And plenty of talent will be on display under the stadium lights once again this fall. The area once again has a player committed to a Division I program entering the season and several others set to continue their careers at Division II schools.Here is a look at some players to know in Greater Lansing.Willie Brown, Lansing SextonThe senior wide receiver had 32 catches for 571 yards and returned a kick for a score last season. He led the CAAC in receiving yards during the regular season. Brown is attracting college attention, which includes an offer from Division I program Mercyhurst.Lucas Cadwell, Grand LedgeThe offensive and defensive lineman is committed to Ferris State. He earned LSJ Dream Team honors in 2025 after being a key piece on an offensive line that helped the Comets average 32.7 points.Joel Cranmore, LeslieThe senior quarterback threw for 2,201 yards and 19 touchdowns and rushed for seven scores in eight games last season. He has thrown for 4,883 yards and 54 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in 20 games the last two seasons.Sam Czekalski, HaslettThe senior offensive and defensive lineman is committed to play at Grand Valley. He was a strongside tackle who helped the Vikings average 203 rushing yard and 109 passing yards per game last season.Braydin Johnson, LeslieThe senior receiver and defensive back had 63 catches for 1,212 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025 and on defense added five interceptions with three returned for scores.Atticus Joy, OkemosThe senior tight end and defensive end is a Northern Michigan commit. He had 31 catches for 302 yards and a TD.Asher Newman, HaslettThe senior defensive end is committed to Central Michigan. He registered 52 tackles, eight sacks and had 10 tackles for loss for the Vikings, who finished as the CAAC Red runner-up and reached a district final in 2025.Braden Reed, OwossoThe senior was one of the top receivers in Greater Lansing last season, finishingwith 42 catches for 823 yards and 11 touchdowns. He set single-season school records for receiving yards and receiving TDs while helping Owosso reach  the playoffs. Reed now shifts back to quarterback and will lead a veteran Trojan squad.Channing Ridley, DeWittThe junior running back owns a Division I offer from Miami (Ohio). He had 92 carries for 1,184 yards and 16 touchdowns and three receiving TDs while contributing to the Panthers capturing a Division 3 state title.Baylor Schanski, East LansingThe senior running back and defensive back owns a Division I offer from UMass. He rushed for 1,015 yards and 12 touchdowns during the regular season in 2025 and added 50 tackles on defense. Trace Winter, Pewamo-WestphaliaThe senior offensive and defensive lineman was a key performer in the trenches for the Pirates, who captured CMAC and Division 7 district and regional titles in 2025. Winter helped the Pirates rush for 2,834 yards on 357 rushes and didn’t allow a sack in 1
