(Photo by Ed Mulholland/Zuffa LLC) UFC 330 went down last night (Sat., Aug. 15, 2026) inside Xfinity Mobile Arena in Phladielpgha, PA., which saw Islam Makhachev retain his Welterweight title by defeating Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision after rife rounds of competitive action (highlights here). In the co-main event, Mackenzie Dern defended her women’s Strawweight title for the first time by dominating Gillian Robertson over the course of 25 minutes.Biggest Winner: Islam MakhachevMakhachev just keeps on winning and keeps making history. The Welterweight champion held on to his belt by outclassing Ian Garry over the course of 25 minutes. In doing so, he broke Anderson Silva’s longstanding record of most consecutive wins inside the Octagon at 17 in a row. His legend only keeps growing and now has a stranglehold of the title as the best MMA fighter in the game today. Garry was a big test, and now that he has his first title defense under his belt at 170 pounds his confidence will only grow. Whether or not he intends to make a run at George St. Pierre’s record of nine straight defenses remains to be seen, but he is off to a mighty fine start. Runner Up: Mackenzie DernThey say you aren’t truly champion until you defend your title for the first time, and Dern did that last night with flying colors. Indeed, the jiu-jitsu ace dominated and suffocated Robertson for 25 minutes in what was pretty much a shutout. Dern looked crisp with her striking and her grappling was top tier. When Robertson did find the rare top position, Dern still worked for submissions and never found herself in any danger. In the end, Dern made the judges’ night easy by clearly outclassing Robertson. She has now won four straight fights, and now that she has her first title defense in the books her confidence will only grow further.Honorable Mention: Jaline TurnerFor the second straight fight, Turner secured a first-round knockout after destroying Kaue Fernandes in just 39 seconds (see it again here). In his previous fight, “Tarantula” stopped Edson Barbosa, also via first-round knockout (highlights). Turner is slowly finding his groove after suffering two straight losses in 2025. If he can keep this stoppage streak going, he could find himself facing stiffer competition in the near future. In the meantime, he just keeps racking up post-fight bonus awards.Biggest Loser: Edson BarbozaBarboza — who is one of the best strikers the UFC’s Featherweight division has ever seen — retired from the fight game last night after 16 years with the promotion. Unfortunately for the Brazilian bomber he did so after suffering a second-round technical knockout (TKO) loss at the hands of Esteban Ribovics. To make
