According to a report from Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, FC Köln attacker Said El Mala would not oppose a move within the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund, but the Black and Yellow side is not certain about bringing in the 19-year-old. El Mala and his family, particularly his mother who also acts as his agent, can easily imagine a transfer to Dortmund. FC Köln are also expecting an approach from BVB following Karim Adeyemi’s potential departure. However, Dortmund is not currently prepared to meet a price of up to €50 million. They have been informed of all terms and demands, yet there remain internal doubts about the deal. El Mala’s situation could indeed change if Adeyemi moves to FC Barcelona, a transfer that might not be decided for several days or even weeks.
There was a sense that El Mala should have been included in the German national team for the World Cup, though he was ultimately left at home. While there was talk of a possible move to England, particularly Brighton, El Mala’s openness to Dortmund could indicate a genuine preference to stay in Germany. If he stays in the Bundesliga, the league would arguably benefit from having him continue to play in Germany.
