The Stripers fought back to reach .500 with a commanding win over the Redbirds, powered by strong pitching from the Gwinnett staff and an explosive offensive showing. AJ Smith-Shawver made his rehab start and looked solid early, but his mechanics briefly ran out of sync around the 40-pitch mark for the second straight start. His shoulder dipped at times, causing the arm to whip more and resulting in a minor dip in velocity, which sat in the 95-96 mph range as he worked through the early innings. Smith-Shawver rode a strong performance into the third, allowing just two baserunners through the first two frames. The wheels came off in the third, when command waned, yielding two walks and three singles that produced two runs. He exited with Smith-Shawver finishing after 2.2 innings.
Carlos Carassco came on and immediately snuffed out the threat with one pitch to end the bases-loaded, one-out danger. He cruised through three one-hit innings, keeping the Barons off the board. Anderson Pilar followed with 2.2 scoreless innings, striking out four while allowing no hits. Joel Payamps closed it out with a perfect ninth, earning the win for the Stripers. Offensively, Gwinnett exploded for three homers and 11 hits. Rowdy Tellez continued his hot stretch, driving in two in the first with a single and adding two more runs in the third on his 10th homer of the season. Jair Camargo belted a solo shot in the fourth to stretch the lead to 5-2. In the following inning, Patrick Clohisy, making his Triple-A debut, launched a two-run homer to push the lead to 7-2. Sandy León and Cal Conley supplied the final two runs in the bottom of the eighth, sealing a 9-2 victory for the Stripers.

An outstanding pitching performance by the Clingstones staff carried the team to a tight 3-2 win over the Barons. Brett Sears opened and delivered a superb outing, racking up 18 whiffs over 6.2 innings while yielding only four hits, including a double and a solo homer. He remained almost perfectly efficient, cruising with one over the minimum until the fifth, when he allowed a one-out run-scoring double. He regrouped and retired the next five, before surrendering the solo shot in the seventh. Sears’ performance anchored the win as the Clingstones continued to showcase depth and depth of strikeout capability.
