Brenton Strange was all smiles after officially inking a three-year contract extension with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jaguars will reportedly give Strange up to $48 million over the three-year extension with $25 million in guaranteed money. Originally selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Strange is expected to become more of a focal point of the team’s offense moving forward.

“As our offense continues to evolve, Brenton’s role will evolve with it. He sets the tone as a run blocker and plays a huge role in the pass game as well,” head coach Liam Coen said via a statement released by the team. “His work ethic and dedication define our core values and culture, and we’re excited to keep developing this offense with him as a main focal point.”

The Jaguars have signaled a shift in the team’s offense this offseason after they selected two tight ends in the 2026 NFL Draft, including top selection, second round pick Nate Boerkircher.
Coen has indicated since then that the team would like to deploy more of a variety of personnel which could include two or three tight ends on a given play more often then not during the season. Strange is at the center of that.

“Over the course of last season, it was clear that Brenton was an important part of what we’re building here,” general manager James Gladstone said via a statement released by the team. “He will continue to grow within the confines of the offense and be a weapon in both the pass and run game.”
Strange has proven to be an asset on offense, working as an all-purpose tight end with a great ability to block on run downs and catch passes from a variety of places on the field.

Strange had no doubt that he and the team would come to an agreement on a contract extension before he entered his fourth season with the club. When speaking with members of the media shortly after signing the extension, Strange said his agents and Jacksonville had been talking and he felt it was a matter of time.

“But you never know. So, I’m just excited to be here and continue building on what we started,” said Strange, adding earlier that he feels at home in Duval.
“I feel like Duval is home to me. I take a lot of pride in going out there every Sunday, whenever we play, Monday, whatever it is, Thursday, and just playing good for this city and playing good for this organization. This is where I wanted to be. I’m happy here and I’m just excited we got the deal done,” he added.
Since being drafted by the Jaguars, Strange has played in 43 games (26 starts), catching 91 passes for 986 yards and six touchdowns. Under Coen’s leadership in 2025, Strange enjoyed the best season of his career with 46 catches for 540 yards and three touchdowns through 12 games.
While Strange is aware of Coen’s abilities as a playcaller, he says he wants to simply execute plays to the best of his ability, allowing Coen to handle the playcalling and schemes.

“I just go out there and try to execute it to the best of my ability, and just be me. I’m definitely excited to continue building and, like I said, we have something special here, so it’s awesome to continue to be here and to continue to be a part of this organization,” he said.
In the meantime, Strange hopes to continue making plays for the Jaguars, something he takes a lot of pride in for the City of Jacksonville and the organization itself.
“I want to be a reliable playmaker for this team. Anything that they call on my number to do, I want to be able to do that, and I’m going to do it to the best of my abilities,” said Strange.
