At the time of their trade with the New York Mets for right-hander Freddy Peralta, they knew that Brice Turang had second base locked down for the foreseeable future.
There are other bumps in the road for an infield prospect acquired in that trade with the Mets.
“Rookie Cooper Pratt is now locked in at shortstop, while Brice Turang is one of the best second basemen in the game,” Bleacher Report’s Joel Reuter wrote Thursday.
“Rising prospects Jesús Made and Andrew Fischer both have a chance to be the future at third base, and in the not-too-distant future, since both are currently suiting up for Double-A Biloxi.”

That leaves Jett Williams with a difficult path to playing time in the Majors.
Could the Brewers flip him at the trade deadline? Perhaps in a trade that helps them land an ace, like Tarik Skubal.
“Williams has been playing mostly third base at Triple-A this season to find a path to the majors, but with a .218/.328/.373 line, he could end up getting leapfrogged by one of those Double-A standouts,” Reuter added.

Of course, the Brewers may prefer to hold on to Williams. It’s not out of the question that they decide to transition him to the outfield if there’s no room on the dirt.
