​Briarcrest Christian School defeated Southwind High School in ABC24’s Game of the Week. BCS vs Southwind was one of the most highly anticipated matchups of the year. Both teams were undefeated going into the game, with talented players up and down each roster. The Saints won 38-30 in a back-and-forth game. BCS went up 14-0 in quick fashion in the first quarter, but Southwind responded with two more rushing touchdowns by quarterback Malcom Jack and running back Kahmoni Williams to tie the game at 14 apiece at the half.Briarcrest took control in the second half and forced Southwind to go down big at 35-14, in the 4th quarter. However, Southwind battled back with touchdowns by running back Williams and Paul Banks to cut the lead within one score, Junior quarterback Cayden Dixon continued his strong season with two passing touchdowns, one to Senior ATH JD Donaldson and one to sophomore receiver Caden Sage. Donaldson showed his versatility by being the leading rusher for the Saints while also throwing a touchdown himself.Briarcrest’s defense showed up big with two interceptions by safety Cay’den Young and multiple sacks and tackles for loss on the night.Briarcrest continues to prove to be one of the best and most complete teams in the city of Memphis as they advance to 6-0. Southwind suffers its first loss of the season as they fall 4-1.
