Browns ship out Shedeur Sanders in proposed trade from Bleacher Report

With training camp around the league a month away, it is rumor season, with hypothetical trades everywhere and not much news to talk about. Cleveland Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders’ name has been mentioned in potential trade rumors, especially in the case that he doesn’t beat out Deshaun Watson for the starting quarterback position.
Personally, I wouldn’t start Watson; he’s shown he isn’t the guy he was in Houston, but the team has been noncommittal either way and wants to see the duo in pads first, which makes sense. In a recent article by Bleacher Report, Kristopher Knox proposes a trade that would send Sanders out of town and bring back former quarterback Jacoby Brissett.

In the three-team proposal, the Browns would send Shedeur Sanders to Arizona along with a fourth-round pick and end up with Jacoby Brissett and New England’s third-round pick (you can see the full details of the trade proposal here).
Brissett is in a contract dispute with Arizona and would be a great veteran option for the Browns to get to the 2027 class, and would be an upgrade over what they have on the roster now, though he’s not a long-term option or an elite talent.

“In this theoretical three-team deal, Arizona offloads him to the always QB-needy Cleveland Browns while receiving draft compensation, along with second-year signal-caller Shedeur Sanders and Patriots receiver Kayshon Boutte. Through this trade, the Cardinals would get another young QB to compete with Carson Beck for a long-term role. The Browns would get a backup/bridge QB and improved draft capital with which to chase a quarterback in 2027. The Patriots would complete a dynamic receiver trio comprised of Brown, Wilson and Romeo Doubs.”
