The Cleveland Browns have been known for many things since entering the NFL in 1950.There have been the good, like head coach Paul Brown being an early pioneer of analytics, roster building, and innovation, being one of pro football’s dynasties for a decade, and being home to Jim Brown, the game’s greatest running back.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWith the good has come the bad, of course, most notably with the current 62-year drought without a league title. The franchise has also had its share of franchise-altering trades, from trading away Hall-of-Famers Bobby Mitchell and Paul Warfield, to trading for current quarterback Deshaun Watson.Trades were top of mind today while reading Bill Barnwell’s latest column at ESPN, in which Barnwell ponders which players on each of the league’s 32 teams would garner at least one first-round draft pick in return if they were traded. Some of the players on the list, like quarterbacks Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, and Patrick Mahomes, would likely never be traded by their respective teams. But there are others, like defensive ends Maxx Crosby and Myles Garrett, who could be had, given that both were traded during the offseason, even though Crosby’s deal fell through.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWhich brings us to the Browns and Barnwell’s estimation of what the asking price would be to get general manager Andrew Berry to accept a deal.At the top of the list is defensive end Jared Verse, the player the Browns had to have included from the Los Angeles Rams in the deal for Garrett. Barnwell estimates that it would take a first-round pick and more to pry Verse away from the Browns.Moving through the roster, Barnwell speculates that a lone first-round draft pick would be enough for the Browns to part with each of rookie offensive tackle Spencer Fano, second-year defensive tackle Mason Graham, and linebacker Carson Schwesinger, the reigning Defensive Rookie of the Year.Just missing the cut, according to Barnwell, are tight end Harold Fannin Jr. (because teams rarely give up a first-round pick for a tight end) and cornerback Denzel Ward (because of his age).AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementIt is a fun exercise for the slow days of summer, so let’s turn things over to the readers. Berry is on a leave of absence, and you have been tasked with filling in for him. Who on the current roster do you believe would bring back at least one first-round draft pick in a trade?Settle in, pull up the roster, and let everyone know in the comments!
