The Boston Bruins (3-2-0) are closing their three-game homestand against the winless Philadelphia Flyers (0-3-2) on Saturday afternoon at TD Garden. The Bruins just bounced back into the win column after a lifeless showing on Monday at home. Five different goal scorers got on the board in a 6-1 rout of the Utah Mammoth, and the Bruins’ power play finally came to life, going 3-for-4 on Thursday night. They also got 36 saves from Jeremy Swayman and a 7-for-7 showing on the penalty kill. David Pastrnak recorded a four-point night (2-2–4) on Thursday, and he now leads the team in points with six. In 37 regular-season games against the Flyers, Pastrnak has 46 points (26-20–46). Marco Sturm did not switch any of his lines up on Friday at practice, but has yet to commit to a goaltender. Jeremy Swayman has played in both games of the homestand. On the other end of the ice, the Flyers have not hit the ground running. They have been outscored 19-6 in their first five games, and their 1.20 goals per game sits at the bottom of the league. The Flyers also had their own special teams struggles to start the season, and like the Bruins, it took them until the fifth game before they saw a power-play goal go in. They are 1-for-15 (6.7%) on the power play, which puts them in 29th place. These two teams met twice during the four-game preseason, with the home team taking the win in both games. Michael DiPietro stood tall for the Bruins against an NHL-heavy Philadelphia roster, despite the road loss. This is also the Bruins’ sixth and final game without Charlie McAvoy.Bruins Morning Skate NotesThe Bruins will not hold a morning skate on Saturday. Marco Sturm will meet with the media approx. 90 minutes before puck drop.
