Bucks sign Nate Ament to rookie contract following trade with Heat

Former Tennessee forward Nate Ament, the 13th pick in the 2026 NBA draft, has signed his rookie contract with the Milwaukee Bucks, the team announced on Thursday. He is slated to earn $5,502,000 next season, according to Spotrac.
Ament earned a spot on the All-SEC second team after averaging 16.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and one steal per game, while shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc. He also ranked 14th nationally in free throws made with 196, the third-most in a single season in program history for Tennessee. Standing 6-foot-10, Ament posted 11 games of at least 20 points for the Volunteers last season, finishing second among conference freshmen in scoring and 14th overall in freshman scoring.
The 19-year-old forward was selected with the pick acquired by the Bucks from the Miami Heat in the deal that involved two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, a trade that the team announced earlier this week. Ament did not play during Milwaukee’s three-game stretch in the California Classic while the trade was being finalized.
Ament’s draft profile highlighted his scoring ability, rebounding prowess, and knack for drawing fouls, which helped elevate him into lottery-pick consideration. His size and versatility give him the potential to create mismatches on offense and to pull up against a variety of defenders.
With his rookie contract now in place, Ament has joined the Bucks as part of their Summer League roster. Notably, the Summer League schedule begins Friday in Las Vegas, with Milwaukee slated to face the Heat at 4 p.m. EDT, broadcast on Prime Video.
