Former Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro declined to weigh in on his alleged altercation with Bam Adebayo, telling longtime Heat beat writer Ira Winderman, “My only comment is no comment.” The brief reply marked Herro’s first public remark since ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Adebayo confronted the Bucks guard during a dispute at a Las Vegas hotel practice court, following comments Herro had made on social media after Milwaukee acquired him in the blockbuster trade that sent Giannis Antetokounmpo to Miami.
Herro’s stance came as he attended Milwaukee’s Summer League opener against Miami in Las Vegas on Friday, while Adebayo was not in attendance, according to Winderman. The Heat later issued their first public response, saying, “We are aware, but not commenting,” per Winderman. Neither the Bucks nor the NBA has publicly indicated whether any additional action is anticipated.
Charania reported that the confrontation originated from remarks Herro posted on social media after his trade, which ended a seven-year partnership with Adebayo in Miami. Soon after joining Milwaukee, Herro shared a graphic that highlighted the NBA’s least efficient mid-range shooters, with Adebayo named among those included. The discussion reportedly continued in a direct-message exchange between Herro and a fan, which later leaked on social media.
Following a fan’s defense of Adebayo by writing, “Bam do his job top 5 defender [averaging] 20 and 10,” Herro replied, “You should get paid 60 million to be a top tier defender on some nights? I’m just wondering since we’re talking.” When the fan implied he was referencing Adebayo, Herro added, “I didn’t say any names. I’m just saying should an elite defender be making 60 million a year? If the shoe fits. It fits.”
Adebayo is entering the first season of the three-year, $160.3 million maximum extension he signed with Miami in 2024. He is projected to earn $49.5 million this season, with salaries increasing to more than $53 million and then about $57 million over the following two years. The Bucks acquired Herro as a central piece in the trade that sent Antetokounmpo to Miami, anticipating him to help lead Milwaukee’s new era on offense.
Yet, the first major storyline surrounding Herro’s Bucks tenure and his Milwaukee homecoming has instead revolved around the end of his stay with the Heat and the unresolved questions over the reported confrontation with Adebayo.
