Buffalo Bills 2026 scouting report: WR Stephen Gosnell

By admin — In yahoo — July 2, 2026

The Buffalo Bills’ receiving corps didn’t look strong last season, and some analysts, including ESPN’s Bill Barnwell, still question the unit this year even after adding DJ Moore in a trade and Skyler Bell in the fourth round. Could an overlooked receiver break through this season? In our “91 players in 91 days” series, we examine a hopeful in Stephen Gosnell.
Name: Stephen Gosnell
Number: 89
Position: Wide receiver
Height/Weight: 6’1”, 198 pounds
Age: 24 (25 on 10/22/2026)
Experience/Draft: 1; signed with Buffalo as an undrafted free agent after the 2025 NFL Draft
College: Virginia Tech
Acquired: UDFA signing
Financials (Spotrac): Gosnell signed a reserve/future contract after the 2025 season, a two-year deal worth a total of $1,943,500. If he makes the 53-man roster, he’ll count $889,250 against the cap; if released, the team would incur an $8,500 dead-cap hit for the season.
2025 Recap: Gosnell joined the Bills as an undrafted free agent and spent the offseason with the team. He appeared in two preseason games, catching all five targets for 41 yards. He did not perform kick or punt returns or register a special-teams tackle. He was waived on August 26, signed to Buffalo’s practice squad after clearing waivers, and did not elevate to the 53-man roster for any games before signing a reserve/future deal.
Positional outlook: Gosnell is one of 14 wideouts currently on the Bills’ roster, alongside Khalil Shakir, DJ Moore, Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, Mecole Hardman Jr., Trent Sherfield Sr., Jalen Virgil, Ja’Mori Maclin, Max Tomczak, Deven Thompkins, Tyrell Shavers, Skyler Bell, and Mac Dalena.
2026 offseason: Gosnell has remained healthy and participated in offseason workouts ahead of training camp.
2026 season outlook: While most undrafted free agents don’t make a team in their first year, Gosnell not only stayed with the Bills on the practice squad but is entering his second pro season with the organization. That staying power suggests the Bills see something they like, whether it’s his agility (a 6.96-second three-cone drill at his 2025 Pro Day), his potential at contested catches (6’5” wingspan, 34.5” vertical, 10’ broad jump), or his versatility to line up in multiple spots on offense. With the receiver group having its share of questions, Gosnell’s continued presence keeps him in play as a potential surprise contributor.
