Bulls vs. Jazz Summer League Preview: How to Watch & Injury Report

By admin — In News — July 13, 2026

The Chicago Bulls continue their 2026 NBA Summer League slate on Monday night when they take on the Utah Jazz. The game was originally slated to be an exciting clash between No. 2 overall pick Darryn Peterson and No. 4 overall pick Caleb Wilson, but it was reported that Peterson will be out for Monday night’s matchup. All of the top-4 picks in the draft–AJ Dybantsa, Peterson, Cameron Boozer and Wilson–have played excellent basketball so far. Peterson has averaged 25 PPG, 3 RPG and 5.5 APG and hit 38.5% of his shots from 3-point range over four summer league games (in Salt Lake City and Las Vegas).AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementWilson has only played one game so far–in the Las Vegas Summer League–in which he broke the record for most points in an NBA Summer League debut. He poured in 35 points on 12-21 shooting from the field (57.1%).The most shocking part of Wilson’s stellar performance was just how comfortable he looked pulling up from 3-point range. He knocked down a staggering 7-11 shots from 3-point range (63.6%) after knocking down only seven 3-pointers over his entire collegiate career at North Carolina. The Jazz will be without Peterson, as well as key youngsters Ace Bailey and Cody Williams on Monday night. The July 13th showdown does represent a back-to-back for Utah, which perhaps explains them choosing to be cautious with Peterson, specifically. Reportedly, health was one of the determining factors in Dybantsa being taken No. 1 over Peterson.Peterson dealt with cramping issues during his time in college with the Kansas Jayhawks. He played sporadically over 24 games, often subbing himself out of games when he felt tightness. No one doubted Peterson’s impressive scoring ability, but the durability concerns are quite real and are showing up already.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementOf course, summer league is not of the utmost importance and it is reasonable to hold out key players, especially if you feel like you’ve seen enough.Even without the scoring prowess of Peterson and Bailey on the floor, the Jazz-Bulls matchup will have some intrigue.Utah’s Blake Hinson has had some solid stints in the G-League and scored 16 points off the bench in the Sunday night loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. Orlando Robinson has played several NBA stints and is a physical inside scorer. The Jazz also have former Arkansas big Jonas Aidoo, who is coming off a solid performance of 9 points, 10 rebounds and 3 blocks. Robinson and Aidoo will be a great test for Noa Essengue and anyone manning the paint for Chicago. Here’s everything else you need to know about Monday night’s matchup:AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementChicago Bulls (18-20) @ Houston Rockets (22-14)Location: Toyota Center | Las Vegas, NevadaTipoff: Monday, Jul. 13, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. CTTV: Chicago Sports Network | AnnUtahUtah JazzDarryn Peterson: OutAce Bailey: OutCody Williams: OutChicago Bulls vs. Dallas Mavericks (Jul. 10)G Jaylin SellersG Dailyn SwainF Caleb WilsonF Noa
