Bulls’ Three-Point Shooting Goes Cold as Lakers Dominate in Vegas

   ​The Chicago Bulls had about as bad a shooting performance as you could see in the NBA on Thursday night.Against the undefeated Los Angeles Lakers, Chicago shot a measly 3-of-33 from three-point range as the Bulls were shellacked by L.A., 105-82. The loss dropped the Bulls to 1-3 in Las Vegas, while the Lakers advanced to the Summer League Semifinals with a 4-0 record.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementNo. 4 overall pick Caleb Wilson led the team with 21 points on 7-of-15 shooting, eight rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal. However, he also logged eight turnovers and four personal fouls in the 23-point loss.Tobe Awaka and Boo Buie were the only other Bulls players to crack double-digits, with 12 points apiece. Awaka was a perfect 5-of-5 from the floor but had five fouls as well.Five different Lakers finished with at least 10 points, while 12 different players scored.The Lakers controlled the early lead, but the Bulls kept it close through one. Dailyn Swain dunked to log his first made basket since Chicago’s Summer League opener, snapping a streak of 18 consecutive missed shots. Two free-throw lane violations by the Bulls allowed Los Angeles to take a 19-16 advantage after the first quarter.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementFormer G League guard Jon Elmore led the charge for the Lakers from beyond the arc, keeping them in front. The 30-year-old knocked down a pair of threes that helped his team withstand a one-man run from Wilson, who hammered a vicious jam and connected from downtown on consecutive possessions.Wilson and Awaka gashed Los Angeles in the paint, but they also put the ball on the floor several times. The rookie frontcourt duo accounted for eight of Chicago’s 11 first-half turnovers, including six from Wilson alone. Wilson picked up three fouls as part of a chippy first half, where the No. 4 overall pick bled from his arm and both teams met on the court before heading to the locker rooms.Thanks to a 12-0 run and a 37-point quarter, the Lakers took a 56-40 lead into halftime.Los Angeles’ onslaught continued out of the break, as the Lakers scored 17 of the following 19 points. The lead opened up to as large as 32 points, and Chicago could not manage to find the bottom of the net. The Lakers held on for the dominant victory to advance to the Summer League Semifinals.Chicago will conclude its 2026 Summer League play on Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers, with tipoff set for 6:00 p.m. CT.
