​CANANDAIGUA – Another week, another Class A2 victory for Canandaigua.Section V football playoffs won’t start for more than a month. Canandaigua continues to roll as the regular season reaches its midpoint.Canandaigua (4-0) defeated Greece Arcadia (2-2), 42-6, on Sept. 25. Aleks Hawryschuk’s three touchdowns headlined another successful rushing night for the Gray Wolves’ offense.This marked Canandaigua’s third win this season against a Class A2 opponent. Week 3 saw it defeat the same Brockport team which erased it from last year’s playoffs.No one has crowned the Gray Wolves yet. But they have Section V’s attention.“Offensively, we were more effective, more efficient, and executed earlier,” Canandaigua head coach Jeff Welch said. “We didn’t feel we executed early (at Brockport), so that was the goal this week.”Canandaigua pulled away in second halfCanandaigua pulled away in the third quarter after an Arcadia touchdown pass from Jackson Childs to Drake Sapp narrowed the halftime score to 21-6. Isaac Dolph, Austin Kierst and Eli Laskowski each scored a rushing touchdown for Canandaigua in addition to three by Hawryschuk, who carried the ball 15 times for 185 yards.George Mirras grabbed two interceptions for the Canandaigua defense and Max Foster recorded seven tackles.What’s next?Eight teams populate Class A2, which East/World of Inquiry won last season before dropping to Class B. Irondequoit, the top seed in Class A1 a year ago, replaced East/WOIS in A2.Canandaigua will not see Irondequoit (2-2) until the playoffs. It will visit Class A2 hopeful Eastridge (2-1) on Oct. 9 before closing the regular season versus Greece Olympia-Odyssey (0-3).First, though, Canandaigua hosts Fairport for an old school rivalry on Oct. 2.“This was the game in all of Rochester,” Welch said. “It’s pretty cool to have that back.
