CBS names Broncos the best free agent fit for ex-Pro Bowl tight end

By admin — In News — July 15, 2026

Bryan DeArdo of CBS Sports recently unveiled his top landing spots for some of the NFL’s best remaining free agents, including one potential fit for the Denver Broncos. From wide receiver Stefon Diggs to tight end Jonnu Smith, there are several notable playmakers still available. DeArdo believes the Broncos would be a logical landing spot for Smith.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisement”In Smith, the Broncos would be getting a player who is just two years removed from setting career highs with 88 receptions for 884 yards and eight touchdowns,” DeArdo wrote for CBS Sports. “Smith’s skill set also meshes with Sean Payton’s offense, which gives pass-catchers a chance to make plays after the catch.”Smith, 30, made the Pro Bowl with the Miami Dolphins in 2024, but his production slipped with the Pittsburgh Steelers last fall as he totaled 38 receptions for 222 yards and two touchdowns. Denver still has Evan Engram and Adam Trautman, and the team just drafted a pair of rookies (Justin Joly and Dallen Bentley) in April. So it’s hard to imagine the Broncos adding another aging tight end when they already have Engram.Social: Follow Broncos Wire on Facebook and Twitter/X! Did you know: These 25 celebrities are Broncos fans. This article originally appeared on Broncos Wire: CBS names Broncos the best free agent fit for ex-Pro Bowl tight end
