Celtic interested in Manchester United goalie who impressed on loan

Celtic are reportedly eyeing a potential deal to sign Radek Vitek, the 22-year-old Manchester United goalkeeper. The Czech stopper spent last season on loan at Bristol City, where he impressed in the English Championship, catching the eye of transfer observers. According to transfer journalist Pete O’Rourke, Celtic are exploring the possibility of bringing Vitek to Parkhead as part of their plans to strengthen between the posts.
Celtic are actively seeking a new goalkeeper to challenge for the number one spot with Viljami Sinisalo after Kasper Schmeichel’s retirement in the summer. With Schmeichel hanging up his gloves, Sinisalo has stepped into the No.1 jersey, signaling a potential shift in the club’s goalkeeping hierarchy. Nevertheless, Celtic remain keen to secure additional competition and depth in the position, with the prospect of signing another stopper on a permanent deal or loan arrangement.
Manchester United, meanwhile, would consider allowing Vitek to depart either on a permanent transfer or on a loan basis. Vitek is under contract with United until 2028, which gives the club room to negotiate and evaluate options for his future. United’s current goalkeeping setup includes Senne Lammens from Belgium, and there is ongoing talk that they may bring in Karl Darlow as a third option, providing experienced cover as they manage their squad.
The situation around Vitek’s availability has been the subject of speculation, with reports suggesting that the young keeper could move away from Old Trafford if the right opportunity presents itself. For Celtic, any potential acquisition would represent a strategic reinforcement as they plot a campaign that aims to recapture and sustain domestic and European momentum. The possibility of adding Vitek would add depth behind Sinisalo and create healthy competition within Celtic’s goalkeeping ranks.
Celtic have already begun their summer business, having added defender Duran from Qarabag. The club also announced that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had signed a new contract, though there has been little movement on talks to bring back players such as Kelechi Iheanacho or Marcelo Saracchi, with discussions reportedly ongoing with their agents. As Celtic navigate the close of the transfer window, securing a capable back-up or challenger to Sinisalo remains a priority, with Vitek emerging as a viable option in their pursuit of strengthened depth between the sticks.
