The Charlotte Hornets have waived forward Mouhamadou Gueye, the team announced Thursday.Valencia Basket announced an agreement with Gueye on July 23. The Spanish club’s release said the contract was for one season, running through June 30, 2027. Valencia plays in the Liga Endesa and the EuroLeague. Valencia went 25-13 in the EuroLeague regular season last year and lost to Real Madrid in the Final Four.Charlotte acquired Gueye on July 10 in the four-team trade with Minnesota, Brooklyn, and Chicago. The Hornets sent LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to Minnesota. Charlotte got back Naz Reid, Gueye, the draft rights to Matteo Spagnolo, Minnesota’s 2033 first-round pick, second-round picks in 2029, 2032, and 2033, and first-round swap rights in 2028, 2029, and 2030. Brooklyn got Julius Randle and the No. 28 pick. Chicago got Nic Claxton. Minnesota also got the No. 33 pick from Brooklyn.Gueye signed with the Bulls on April 9. That made him ineligible to be traded until July 9, and the four-team deal could not be finalized until then. Chicago picked up his non-guaranteed minimum salary for 2026-27 so he could be included in the trade. The original three-team agreement sent him to Minnesota.Gueye played two college seasons at Stony Brook and two more at Pitt, and he went undrafted in 2022. Most of his first four professional seasons were spent in the G League, with the Texas Legends, Raptors 905, Capital City Go-Go, and Windy City Bulls. In 47 games for Windy City in 2025-26, the 6-foot-9 forward averaged 14.9 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.4 blocks in 29.2 minutes.Chicago signed Gueye to a two-year contract in the final week of the regular season. He played 45 minutes across the Bulls’ last two games in April and finished with 16 points, six rebounds, and six assists.Toronto signed Gueye to a 10-day contract in February 2024. He made his NBA debut on Feb. 12 against San Antonio and had two points, three rebounds, and two blocks in six minutes. Gueye signed a two-way deal with the Raptors on March 4. He appeared in 11 games for Toronto that season and averaged 2.4 points and 2.1 rebounds. Toronto waived him in June 2024.Gueye played for Charlotte in the 2024 Summer League.The Hornets had been at the 21-man offseason roster limit before Thursday. Charlotte has 17 players on standard contracts, 16 of them guaranteed. All three two-way slots are filled, and rosters are limited to 15 standard contracts once the regular season starts.Three days after the Ball agreement, Charlotte sent Miles Bridges to Phoenix for Grayson Allen, Royce O’Neale, and a 2033 first-round pick. Bridges averaged 17.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 77 games last season and shot 46% from the field. He spent seven seasons in Charlotte.Coby White re-signed on a three-year, $74 million contract. Dorian Finney-Smith came over from Houston. Charlotte took Hannes Steinbach at No. 14 in the draft and Christian Anderson Jr. at No. 18, and the Hornets held no second-round pick.The
