NASCAR fans, friends, and family gathered at Charlotte Motor Speedway to honor the life of legendary driver, philanthropist, and family man Kyle Busch. Busch died in late May from severe pneumonia that turned into sepsis.The track tribute served as the second honor dedicated to Busch. Earlier in the day, the NASCAR Hall of Fame opened a new exhibit titled “Kyle Busch: Honoring a Legacy” to commemorate his 25-year racing career.READ MORE: Kyle Busch, two-time Cup Series winner, dies at 41Busch’s family unveiled the No. 18 car from his first NASCAR Cup Series championship as part of the display. His wife, Samantha Busch, shared that while many cars could have been selected for the exhibit, the championship vehicle represents far more than just a single victory.Throughout his career, Busch became the winningest overall driver in NASCAR history, recording 234 victories across NASCAR’s three main series: the Cup Series, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and the Craftsman Truck Series.Race enthusiasts displayed Kyle Busch flags on tents and campers around the Concord campground prior to entering the speedway. Greg McInnis, a Kyle Busch fan at the venue, highlighted the importance of remembering the driver alongside fellow fans. “Being able to wrap that with the NASCAR community here at home in Charlotte is going to do wonders for the sport,” McInnis said. “Not only for just the sport but for everybody included in NASCAR.”The 8 p.m. celebration of life ceremony is taking place on the track’s infield after the EcoSave 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race. Admission and parking were offered free to fans attending the tribute, where Busch’s loved ones and friends were scheduled to speak.
