Chelsea already want to sell £40m transfer flop

Chelsea are reportedly prepared to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho during the upcoming summer transfer window, barely a year after securing his services from Manchester United. The winger inked a seven-year contract with the Blues following his departure from Old Trafford in a deal valued at £40 million. Despite the high-profile move, Garnacho’s first season at Stamford Bridge failed to leave a lasting impression, as he struggled to recapture the form he showed earlier and managed only 14 Premier League starts.
The Athletic suggests that Chelsea are seeking a straightforward sale rather than a loan, with an asking price of £42.5 million. In contrast, Sky Sports News reports the club is aiming for £50 million. According to these sources, the 22-year-old has not returned for pre-season training as he pursues a new club, with a clear desire to leave in order to secure regular first-team football elsewhere.
Reports also indicate that multiple clubs across Europe, as well as interests from Saudi Arabia and the Premier League, have shown concrete interest in Garnacho. Chelsea reportedly remain optimistic about finalizing a deal within the next two weeks.
