Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy continues to be handled with caution as he recovers from injuries while the team works through OTAs and minicamp. The Chiefs, facing a thin wide receiver room ahead of the regular season, are paying close attention to Worthy after injuries cut short his 2025 campaign. Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports reported that Worthy wore a yellow non-contact jersey during mandatory minicamp, with notes that he played through last season with a torn shoulder labrum and also had an ankle issue.
As a first-round pick out of Texas entering his third NFL season, Worthy’s production dipped in 2025, with 14 games played (13 starts) compared to 17 games and 13 starts in his rookie year. He finished 2025 with 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown, down from 59 receptions, 638 yards, and six touchdowns the prior year. Despite health concerns, Worthy has shown strong performance in offseason workouts and has been praised for his performance during minicamp. The Chiefs are likely to keep him in the non-contact jersey at the start of training camp, with full participation anticipated by the preseason if he remains on track.
Rashee Rice is also in rehab from a knee surgery in mid-May, following a run-in with law related to a probation violation that resulted in 30 days in jail. There were no knee complications reported during his time in custody, and he could be back to full health by the start of training camp in late July, though he may see some preseason action depending on progress.
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes continues rehabilitation from his torn ACL/LCL sustained in Week 15 against the Chargers. Goldman’s latest update suggests that once Mahomes is fully cleared, the Chiefs will be cautious with the timing of the final clearance to avoid rushing him back prematurely.
