Christian Falk clarifies Real Madrid president’s ‘Olise’ comment to Bayern chief

One of the most talked-about transfer rumors surrounding Real Madrid this summer has been the ongoing speculation about a potential move for Bayern Munich stalwart Michael Olise. The French midfielder has enjoyed an excellent campaign with Bayern and has continued to impress on the World Cup 2026 stage with the French national team. Positioned primarily on the right wing, Olise fits the profile Real Madrid typically seeks, and his addition could further bolster an attack that already features Vinícius Júnior on the left and a central focal point in the form of Kylian Mbappé. In such a scenario, Olise’s arrival would underscore a front line that many observers would regard as among the most formidable in Europe.
Yet, the prospect of Olise donning the white jersey remains far from certain. Real Madrid themselves issued an official statement stating that they are not in talks with the player and would only engage in negotiations after obtaining Bayern Munich’s approval. Concurrently, Bayern have made it unequivocally clear that Olise is not for sale. In this climate of cautious diplomacy, a recent encounter between Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez and his Bayern counterpart Herbert Hainer at the Santiago Bernabéu has fueled speculation. Some outlets insinuated that Pérez told Hainer, “In the end, you will have to sell Olise to me.”
Clarifying the matter further, the reliable German journalist Christian Falk addressed the issue in his latest column for CF Bayern Insider. Falk confirms that the meeting indeed occurred and that Pérez may have made a lighthearted remark along the lines of the aforementioned quip. However, he stresses that it was merely a joke and not a formal expression of intent. According to Falk, the two presidents share a strong relationship, and there is an understanding that Real Madrid would refrain from pursuing Olise this summer. Should Madrid ever consider a move for the Frenchman in the future, they would first inform Hainer and then approach the player or his representatives.
As things stand, Michael Olise is unlikely to join Real Madrid this summer. However, the door remains open for potential developments next year, though such possibilities would ideally unfold without straining the long-standing rapport between two of Europe’s most storied clubs. The broader takeaway is that, for now, Olise’s move to the Santiago Bernabéu appears improbable, with both clubs maintaining a prudent and communicative stance.
