Christian McCaffrey’s imposing reaction to 49ers rookie tailback will rile up fans

Getty ImagesBlack is fresh off winning a national championship with the Indiana Hoosiers and was selected in the third round of the 2026 NFL Draft by the 49ers.Last season, Black saw his first opportunity as a lead running back during his college football career and made the most of the opportunity, finishing sixth in the Big Ten for rushing with 1,040 yards, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and scoring 10 touchdowns on the ground.San Francisco could have a unique tandem in the backfield this season, as Black will likely serve as a backup and be utilized in short-yardage situations. He’s known for his ability to run downhill while being physical. McCaffrey, who is known for making explosive plays, will be the lead back.“Our whole running back room is great, and he complements it so well in the way he runs,” McCaffrey told reporters. “When you look at him in his rookie year, and you look at me, my rookie year, they look very different in age.”Christian McCaffrey said he was not on Kaelon Black’s level when McCaffrey entered the NFL. He was the 49ers’ leading rusher and receiver. He rushed for 1,202 yards and 10 touchdowns. McCaffrey added 102 receptions for 924 yards and seven TDs.
