Despite their recent best efforts, they also sit 5.5 games out of the final NL Wild Card spot, with six teams they’d need to jump to earn their way into a playoff spot. With seven guys who are set to reach free agency at season’s end, all signs point to the Reds being active sellers in the next few hours. Guys like Brady Singer, Tyler Stephenson, Eugenio Suarez, Caleb Ferguson, Brock Burke, Pierce Johnson, and Nate Lowe are all expected to be shopped aggressively, and there’s the off-chance that Nick Krall and Co. opt to cash-in on players with more team control (i.e. Hunter Greene or JJ Bleday) in order to help restock the farm. We’ll be following all the developments here at Red Reporter HQ, and here will be the clearinghouse where you can follow with us. Maybe, just maybe, the front office will find a way to unload Ke’Bryan Hayes!UPDATES4:38 PM ET – Well, this is awkward.4:40 PM ET – It appears the Cincinnati Reds may be leaning towards keeping Brady Singer for the rest of the season after all and, potentially, issuing him a Qualifying Offer at season’s end.
