   ​With training camp for the Indianapolis Colts getting closer, which players should be on our radars as these practices and preseason games unfold?As part of our training camp preview, we’ll be highlighting one player from each position group to keep your eyes on. In some instances, it may be one of the Colts’ top players that we’ll be watching closely, or it could be a player fighting for playing time or a roster spot.Up next is the safety position.Colts safety to watch in training camp: AJ HaulcyThe starting safety job next to Cam Bynum is up for grabs, and Haulcy appears to be the front-runner for that role following offseason programs, garnering the attention of both Lou Anarumo and Bynum.Haulcy brings impressive ball skills to the Colts’ secondary, resulting in more turnover potential. But in addition to that, he’s also versatile. The Colts view Haulcy as someone who can line up deep or close to the line of scrimmage.This not only provides Anarumo with additional flexibility in how he utilizes Haulcy and constructs his game plans, but it also allows him to move Bynum around more as well.Those skill sets — the ball skills and versatility — will be worth watching in training camp. High-level ball production, of course, can impact a game greatly, while the versatility can add a new element to this defense. Haulcy has the potential to be a ceiling raiser for this unit.That said, he’s also still a rookie, and with that can come a learning curve.
