Colts roster preview: Devin Veresuk making jump from CFL to NFL

By admin — In News — July 10, 2026

Between now and training camp, we will be reviewing the Indianapolis Colts’ full 90-man roster, offering a closer look at each player. Up next is linebacker Devin Veresuk, who wears number 48. He stands 6-2 and weighs 240 pounds, is 24 years old, and is in his first NFL season. He played college football at Windsor.
The Colts signed Veresuk in January to a reserve/future contract. He spent his college career at Windsor from 2020 to 2024. According to the Colts’ team site, he also spent time in the Canadian Football League last season. As a rookie, Veresuk was the second overall pick for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 18 games, he accumulated 66 tackles and 2.0 sacks, along with an interception and a forced fumble.
There are many unknowns surrounding the Colts’ linebacker depth chart, which can create opportunity, but Veresuk faces an uphill battle to secure a spot on the roster given the competition. A number of players are pushing for roles in the group. Alongside CJ Allen, Veresuk joins fellow contenders like Bryce Boettcher, Akeem Davis-Gaither, and Jaylon Carlies who all took first-team reps during the offseason program. Austin Ajiake has shown he can contribute on special teams, and the Colts appear notably confident in UDFAs West Weeks and Tahj Chambers.
To carve out a role, Veresuk will need to distinguish himself on special teams, which will likely be crucial to his NFL prospects. The more probable path for him may be as a developmental piece the Colts might invest in, potentially viewing him as a candidate for the practice squad if he does not crack the 53-man roster this season.
