​The Washington Commanders are 1-0. Washington defeated the Miami Dolphins 20-7 in the preseason opener for both teams on Friday at Northwest Stadium.Things started rocky for the Commanders, who allowed the Dolphins to drive 93 yards on 14 plays and score a touchdown. Of course, a couple of Washington penalties aided Miami. But after that drive, the Dolphins would never score again. It’s also worth mentioning that the Commanders’ backups faced Miami’s starters early. Overall, Washington sat 26 players, which was mostly starters or players dealing with injuries. It was a banner night for a pair of unexpected Washington rookies: running backs Kaytron Allen and Robert Henry Jr. The duo combined for 158 rushing yards and two touchdowns in their first NFL game. While a preseason win means nothing in the grand scheme of things, it also represents a great evaluation tool.
