​2026 is a new year for Terry McLaurin.McLaurin begins his eighth season in the NFL, and Washington fans are glad that McLaurin has played here in the nation’s capital each of these eight seasons. But it is also a very new experience for McLaurin. 2025 was the season he would rather forget, playing in the fewest games in his career with the least amount of production as well.2025 began with McLaurin getting poor advice from his agent, resulting in a holdout, then a hold-in. This led to McLaurin missing good training camp work, fighting injuries during the season, playing in only ten games, and catching a career-low 38 passes for only 582 receiving yards.Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan (Grant & Danny) was at the Commanders’ facility and caught up with McLaurin briefly on Tuesday. It’s a new season for McLaurin because his offensive coordinator for the 2024 and 2025 seasons, Kliff Kingsbury, is now with the Los Angeles Rams. The veteran has always been responsible, and rather than bash Kingsbury, McLaurin was grateful, recognizing 2024 was a great year.“I did have success in that offense. And I think as a receiver, if you want to be successful in this league, you’ve got to be able to produce no matter what your circumstances are. No matter what the offense is, the quarterback, whatever it is,” expressed McLaurin. He’s right. But in life, change is inevitable; you have to accept the challenge, and those who adapt best experience success. McLaurin is glad to have played for Kingsbury and is now glad to still be in the league and have the opportunity to play in Blough’s offense in 2026 for the Commanders.“I’ve tried to always keep that mentality in mind. But also it is refreshing to be able to move around a lot. When you turn on the tape, and you don’t know where the number one receiver is going to be, it just forces the defense to have to prepare for the whole field, versus 95 percent of the time they knew I was going to be on the left.”Last season, McLaurin played in only 10 games, and the Commanders’ top quarterback, Jayden Daniels, played in only seven. But get this: the two were together in only three games in 2025 (Week 1 vs. the NY Giants, Week 2 at Green Bay, and Week 13 at Minnesota).
