Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin has proven to be one of the most loyal players on the roster. Only two teammates have been with the Commanders longer than McLaurin: punter Tress Way and defensive tackle Daron Payne. Throughout his tenure with Washington, McLaurin has shown remarkable durability, rarely missing a game. He sat out two games in his rookie season, missed a single game the next year, and then endured four consecutive seasons without an absence.
Then came the 2025 season. For the first time in his career, McLaurin sat out seven games due to injury. Even with those absences, he remained among the league leaders in first downs per route run, ranking in the top five at receiver. This level of production on film over seven seasons is what led the Commanders to approve his contract extension. Adam Peters recognizes the value of a dependable wide receiver, and there was no chance Washington would let McLaurin miss games over a contract dispute.
Unfortunately, his holdout while awaiting a new deal may have contributed to the quadriceps injury that sidelined him in 2025. Since his contract was secured, McLaurin has no plans to sit out training camp or the preseason in 2026. That means he should return to his usual, durable form and remain available for Jayden Daniels this season.
