Three Shore players were selected in the 2026 MLB Draft over the weekend — and one was selected so high that it broke a nearly half-century long record.Ranney School product AJ Gracia was the first and only New Jersey player picked on Day 1. The Atlanta Braves selected Gracia at No. 9 – he was the highest pick of a Shore Conference player in 43 years (Jeff Kunkel was the No. 3 pick in 1986). This past season for Virginia, he batted .354 and had 14 home runs and 48 RBI. Prior to Virginia, he spent two seasons at Duke.
