Arsenal has confirmed the sale of Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto after a successful loan spell with the Portuguese club during the 2025-2026 season. Kiwior had been a dependable squad option for Arsenal in recent seasons, helping the team sustain high performance across multiple competitions. Last season, however, he sought more playing time and faced limited opportunities behind Gabriel and William Saliba, leading to his loan to Porto, with an option for a permanent transfer, as part of Arsenal’s defensive restructuring that also included Piero Hincapie.
While in Portugal, Kiwior impressed as one of the league’s standout defenders, playing a key role in Porto’s title-winning campaign and making a permanent move seem increasingly likely. Arsenal’s announcement confirms that Porto activated the option to buy and paid the required fee to complete the transfer, signaling Kiwior’s departure from the club after a season in which his development and consistency were noted in Portugal.
Kiwior is expected to continue as an important player for Porto as they aim to defend their title, though maintaining the same level of success will be challenging. For Arsenal, the sale provides additional funds to support squad depth and long-term defensive planning, with the club already strengthening their defense by bringing in Piero Hincapie. The move reflects Arsenal’s ongoing strategy of balancing player development, squad competition, and financial planning as they advance their project.
