Conflicting reports on Martinez price tag, Juventus and Aston Villa far apart

By admin — In News — July 9, 2026

There are still conflicting reports about the progress of talks between Juventus and Aston Villa over Emiliano Martinez. Some outlets suggest that a fee of around €7 million could be enough, while others believe a much larger sum will be necessary. It is widely known that Juventus have made Martinez a priority target; the goalkeeper is currently preparing for the World Cup quarter-final clash between Argentina and Switzerland.
In Istanbul, on May 20, 2026, during the UEFA Europa League Final held at Besiktas Park, Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was seen reacting as his team faced SC Freiburg. The moment underscored Martinez’s pivotal role and the attention surrounding his future, especially with rumors centering on a potential move to Turin. Martinez, who will turn 34 in September, has been with Aston Villa since his €17.4 million transfer from Arsenal in 2020. He reportedly held a meeting with Juventus officials and was impressed by their offer, both in terms of wages and the overall project proposed by the club.
Sky Sport Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Juventus’ initial €15 million asking price for Martinez has reportedly fallen to a bidding range of €6-7 million. However, renowned transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has stated on his YouTube channel that a deal at such a low figure is unlikely for a player of Martinez’s caliber. If the €6-7 million figure were to be the final offer, Romano argues that Aston Villa would likely prefer to retain Martinez, given that his contract runs through June 2029 and that Villa would not be compelled to sell at a low price.
Romano also repeats a line echoed by other outlets: if Martinez were to depart, Aston Villa would pursue alternative targets, including Parma and Japan international goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, who has also attracted interest from Leeds United. This potential contingency underscores Villa’s willingness to explore other options if Martinez leaves the club, even as negotiations with Juventus continue to unfold.
The situation remains fluid, with supporters and analysts watching how the ongoing World Cup performances could influence Martinez’s willingness to move and how Juventus’ financial stance might shift as talks progress. For now, the key questions revolve around the final transfer fee, Martinez’s future in Villa’s plans, and whether Juventus can bridge the gap between their offer and Villa’s valuation.
