Conor McGregor explains bringing his kids to UFC 329 after they ‘thankfully’ missed him breaking his leg in 2021

Conor McGregor is gearing up for a massive fan turnout at UFC 329, but the heart of the moment for him will be the presence of his four children, who will witness their father compete for the first time in their lives. The former two-division UFC champion revealed that his kids arrived in Las Vegas on Tuesday and will be in attendance to watch him face Max Holloway on Saturday. After a grueling training camp spent preparing for his first fight in five years, McGregor expressed genuine excitement about reuniting with his children, even if only for a brief visit.
“I’ll spend some time with them, feed them, put them to bed, and then head back to the house—my house—where my coaches and my team are, and begin to make the weight,” McGregor told TNT Sports. The fighter’s first son was born in 2017, followed by siblings in 2019, 2021, and 2023, meaning there have been other opportunities for his children to witness his fights. Yet McGregor admits he never felt entirely comfortable with that arrangement in the past and is deeply grateful he did not allow any of his kids to attend his most recent bout against Dustin Poirier, a fight that ended with McGregor suffering a gruesome leg injury.
“I am happy with how it went the last time I didn’t bring them,” he said. “I was away for camp. The camp was very good. The damage to the leg and the hostility of it all, it just wasn’t the place. I was happy, and thankfully they weren’t there to witness the leg break. That’s it.” Now that he has recovered and returned to competition, McGregor still had to carve out time away from father duties to prepare for his upcoming fight, but he felt it was the right moment to have his children in attendance for his comeback.
As McGregor remains steadfast that his love for the sport is the primary reason behind his return, there’s a clear sense of anticipation about Saturday. He’s excited to show his kids what he’s capable of and to give them a glimpse of him “in all his glory.” “I’m going to go for it this time,” he said. “My inspiration and my aim is to let them watch their daddy in all his glory and our God.” For fans and followers, the image of McGregor sharing this pivotal moment with his children only adds to the drama and significance of his comeback, underscoring that, beyond the sport, family remains his ultimate motivator.
