   Jul. 10 — COUGAR NOTES
Fans across Washington who once felt misplaced or far from the action will soon have easier access to Washington State University athletics. For the 2026-27 season, WSU Athletics has expanded its alliance with Bonneville Seattle Media Group, the operator of Seattle Sports 710 AM and the official broadcast partner for both the Seattle Seahawks and Mariners. This broader partnership will enable listeners to hear Washington State football and both the men’s and women’s basketball teams from nearly anywhere in the Evergreen State.
Seattle radio coverage is expanding. Seattle’s 710 AM was already the western Washington radio home for Cougar football, but under the new agreement it will also broadcast Cougar men’s basketball. In addition to over-the-air listening, games will be streamed via seattlesports.com and the Seattle Sports app. When combined with the Cougar Sports Network’s online streaming platform, fans will have multiple ways to tune in, whether they’re on the go or at home.
In the Palouse and surrounding areas, local radio lineups will largely stay intact, with football airing on KHTR-FM (104.3 and 103.9) and KCLX-AM (1450), and men’s and women’s basketball on KHTR-FM, KCLX, or KQQQ-AM/FM (1150/102.1). Seattle Sports emphasizes a statewide reach, promising a robust, coast‑to‑coast Cougar presence. Jon Haarlow, WSU’s vice president and athletic director, expressed enthusiasm for the expanded collaboration: “Seattle Sports gives us an incredible opportunity to connect with Cougs across Washington and throughout the Pacific Northwest. As the region’s premier sports media brand, Seattle Sports provides a tremendous platform to share the stories of our programs, student-athletes and coaches. Reaching all Cougs wherever they are is critical to our outreach, and we’re excited about what this partnership means for the future of Washington State Athletics.”
Seattle Sports will also dedicate daytime coverage to WSU’s flagship programs, including a weekly lunchtime segment with first-year WSU football coach Kirby Moore. The Moore segment will air live on 710 AM, stream online, and be available later on Seattle Sports’ YouTube channel and other digital outlets. Moore will join forces with former WSU wide receiver Michael Bumpus and co-host Stacy Jo Rost on the “Bump and Stacy” show, airing at 12:30 p.m. each Tuesday during the season. Kyle Brown, Seattle Sports program director, stated, “We’re thrilled to partner with Washington State University Athletics at such an exciting time, as the new Pac-12 takes shape and the Kirby Moore era begins. At Seattle Sports, our goal is to be more than just a radio station.”
In addition to the regular schedule, Seattle Sports will broadcast one WSU baseball game per season. All WSU athletic broadcasts will continue to be accessible through the Cougar Sports Network and the WSU Cougars Gameday app, ensuring that fans have reliable, flexible ways to follow their teams. This expanded agreement not only broadens reach but also strengthens Washington State’s media footprint across the state, offering more opportunities for engagement, storytelling, and fan connection as the Cougars pursue success on the field and court.
