ALTOONA, Pa. – As Union Pacific’s renowned Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest locomotive, makes its way through central Pennsylvania, the Curve are excited to celebrate its historic coast-to-coast tour as it travels through Blair County. “We are thrilled to welcome the Big Boy, to Altoona, and to have our stadium and parking facilities play a part in such a momentous event for our community,” Curve General Manager Nate Bowen said. “We also want our fans to enjoy the best possible experience when they come to the ballpark. If you have any questions about parking on Thursday or Friday for the games, please reach out to us.”
Both the VIP lot at Peoples Natural Gas Field and the parking garage will be utilized for parking on Thursday and Friday in conjunction with the Big Boy’s visit to Altoona. Because large crowds are anticipated to view the locomotive, these lots will be filled first by shuttle riders headed to see the train until 4 p.m. Fans planning to attend Thursday and Friday night games are asked not to arrive at the stadium before 4 p.m. to avoid additional traffic from those parking to view the locomotive and to help ensure a smooth operation of our parking facilities.
Thursday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field is Shark Night, a fun-filled evening featuring shark-themed excitement, wild antics, and big hits both on the field and in the stands. It promises to be a “Jaw-some” night filled with teeth, fins, and plenty of Curve fun. In addition, fans will have the chance to participate in Bingo Appreciation Night, with an enter-to-win opportunity to win a trip for two to Las Vegas.
Friday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field features the Curve taking the field as the Pennsylvania Continentals, celebrating America250PA, the U.S. Continental Army, and Pennsylvania’s rich history. Friday also marks the Curve’s second Scout Night of the season, inviting Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and other scout packs to join in the festivities. The event will offer an unforgettable overnight experience at Peoples Natural Gas Field, where scouts can watch the game and then pitch tents on the field for a true under-the-stars sleepover night. This weekend-long celebration highlights the region’s heritage and the excitement surrounding the Big Boy’s visit, offering fans multiple themed experiences and opportunities to engage with the community while enjoying baseball in Altoona.
