Dad of Blue Jays Pitcher Braydon Fisher Unexpectedly Dies on Team Road Trip

Blue Jays pitcher Braydon Fisher is honoring his late father, Norm Fisher, who died at 65 after suffering a stroke while he was on his way to see his son’s team in action. The younger Fisher, now 25, recalled how his father’s unwavering support shaped his own journey to the major leagues and how he will carry his father’s memory with him on and off the field.
“He was an amazing person,” Fisher shared. “People have said the same about me, and he loved hearing it because there was never a bad day for Norm. His name was Norm, and there was never a bad day for him. He was always happy, cheerful, and willing to help anybody. He loved people. He did everything as perfectly as you could. He was very proud of what he had.” Norm Fisher grew up in Vanden, California, and while he lived far from the coast, he was an avid Blue Jays fan who often traveled to games to support the team—and to support his son, who was added to the Blue Jays’ 40-man roster last year when he was called up to the majors.
The heart of the story is that Norm was en route to San Francisco to see the Jays take on the Giants when he suffered a stroke on Monday, July 6. This moment marked a devastating turn for a family that had long shared a passion for baseball, and it has left Braydon facing the hardest days of his life as he processes the loss.
Braydon, reflecting on the past two days, described them as the most difficult of his life. Yet even in the wake of tragedy, he spoke of the constant support his father provided. “He always supported me in every single way,” Braydon said. “He did everything he could to make sure I achieved the dream I’d talked about since I was five.” The road to the majors is one Braydon has walked with his father’s encouragement at every step, a reminder of how deeply Norm believed in his son’s potential.
The pitcher from League City, Texas, also shared a lighthearted memory about how he and his father would joke about the roots of Braydon’s pitching talent. “He liked to talk about being a good baseball player,” Braydon recounted. “I always gave him a hard time for that. My mom always tells him that I got my athletic ability from her. He played baseball and loved baseball. Growing up, if there was a game with a score, it was on the TV.” Braydon added that his father loved watching baseball and enjoyed all the players, and that for the past two years you would have seen Norm proudly wearing a Blue Jays cap, no matter the occasion.
In sharing these memories, Braydon Fisher keeps his father’s legacy close. Norm was a devoted fan and a devoted father, one who lived for the game and for his family. The younger Fisher continues to pursue his dream, and as he does, he does so with the memory of a father who celebrated every moment and believed in him without reservation. The pain of loss is real, but so too is the enduring bond formed by shared love of baseball and family, a bond that will continue to guide Braydon on his path forward.
