LAS VEGAS – Damian Pinas met the media Saturday after his win over Cesar Almeida at UFC 329.Pinas (10-1 MMA, 2-0 UFC) laid out Almeida (7-3 MMA, 3-3 UFC) in a major way on the prelims at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Pinas dropped Almeida with one punch – and held back when he could have done more damage while waiting for the ref to step in for his clear one-hitter quitter.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementAfterward, Pinas dropped a name likely not many were expecting to hear from the middleweight prospect: fellow prospect Baisangur Susurukaev (12-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC).”He was up here (after a win) and one of you guys (mentioned me), and he said, ‘Who’s Damian? I don’t know that guy,'” Pinas said at his post-fight news conference. “He’s supposed to know me because I’m the one that gave him a chance to fight in the UFC. I was supposed to fight on (DWCS) and I had to pull out because of my visa problem, so he got the chance.”I don’t know why he says that he doesn’t know who Damian is. He knows me clearly. Now if you don’t know me, you’re going to get to know me in the octagon.”Susurukaev fought in May and stayed unbeaten with a third-round submission of Djorden Santos at UFC 328 in Newark, N.J. Including his body kick TKO on DWCS to get into the UFC last August, all his UFC wins have been by stoppage.AdvertisementAdvertisementAdvertisementThe only loss of Pinas’ career came in 2024 in Brazil when he was disqualified for an illegal kick. Everything else has been a finish, and eight of the 10 have been in the first round. The finishing power had longtime UFC analyst Joe Rogan comparing Pinas to boxing legend Deontay WilderCheck out Pinas’ post-fight interview in the video above. This article originally appeared on MMA Junkie: Damian Pinas explains Baisangur Susurukaev callout after first-round KO at UFC 329
