The Iowa 4A boys’ golf state championship is in the Quad Cities starting on Monday. The tournament will be held at the Davenport Country Club. Locally, both North Scott and Pleasant Valley qualified as teams for the event.Par for the course is 71, but there are some challenges throughout.”The biggest thing with our golf course here is you want to hit into the fairway because the rough is thick because of all of the rain we’ve recently received. So that will be a big challenge for players. They want to make sure they drive it in the fairway, and then other than that they got to make sure they keep the ball below the hole,” said John Panek, general manager and COO of the Davenport Country Club. “We have a lot of slope on our greens, so you gotta make sure you keep it below the hole. The greens will be fast this week, and that will present a big challenge for them. So keep it out of the rough, and keep it below the hole.”The tournament concludes on Tuesday.
