The French national team has announced that Upamecano has been released from international duty and will return to Bayern Munich immediately following his red card against Italy last night. The Bayern Munich defender was sent off during France’s match, meaning he would have been unavailable for the next international fixture anyway. Rather than keeping him with the squad, France have now made the decision to return him to his club. For Bayern Munich, that means Upamecano can get back to Säbener Straße and begin preparing for the club’s upcoming schedule while the rest of the international players remain away with their respective national teams.Upamecano has been an important part of Vincent Kompany’s plans, particularly with Bayern Munich managing a demanding schedule across the Bundesliga and Champions League. Now he gets a little unexpected time back in Munich. After a red card ended his night with France, Upamecano will probably be hoping the next card he sees is not quite as dramatic.Join the conversation!Sign up for a user account and get:New, improved notifications system!Fewer adsCreate community postsComment on articles, community postsRec comments, community posts
